How many different diets have you tried in the past that simply haven’t worked? Why is it that so many diets fail? Many individuals believe the myth that drastically reducing your food intake will result in weight loss. In the real world when we go on a low calorie diet we run the risk of actually gaining weight. Your body is designed to interpret reduced food intake with starvation. By regularly cutting down what we eat we send our body into starvation preservation mode.

Studies show that thin people tend to eat have diets that have plenty of complex carbohydrates (like veggies, pulses etc) and individuals who are overweight usually have diets that have a lot more fat. We need to fully understand how our bodies work in order to create a successful weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight quickly is to follow a low carb diet where you control just how much carbohydrates you take in each day, but are less restrictive about the other foods. You still need to make sure you don’t overeat, by carefully managiing your portion sizes, and make sure you get the right combination of healthy and nutritious foods which should also be low in saturated fats.

Chances are there are habits that contributed to the weight gain and the weight gain was not over night but took years to accumulate. As the weight gain didn’t happen overnight, it’s likely to take some time to get back to your healthy weight as well. People who haven’t figured out the balance between watching what you eat, ensuring you get adequate water, getting regular exercise and making sure they get enough sleep are easy pickings to those pushing the current fad diet, lose weight pill or quick weight loss program. You can find these fad diets, pills and programs in every media including TV, radio, magazines, books, and the Internet. Because most individuals today have been programmed to want everything now, it’s much easier to think (or even believe) that a magic does exist that can burn off fat virtually overnight, than to believe that we have power to re-structure our lives and have a much better life where obesity is behind us in the past.

Most diets simply don’t work because they do not teach you to build a balance within your body. Most diets are doomed to failure because they are designed towards making the promoter or some company rich rather than producing a diet product or system that will genuinely aid a person to lose weight.

We hear everywhere that those who are overweight are more likely to succumb to illnesses and other life threatening health conditions due to excessive body weight. Too much fat in your diet is one of the main contributors to unnecessary body fat.

For too many years people have been instructed that they need to cut down on food or rigorously count calories in order to lose weight. Believe it or not our bodies are very proficient when it has to manage weight if we give them what they need to stay healthy - such as proper amounts of sleep, plenty of water, wholesome and nutritious foods, and some regular physical exercise.

Getting rid of those extra pounds is not just about calorie counting, you should also not overeat. Moderate portions of healthy foods are crucial to losing weight. Equally important to losing weight is to keep physically active. Our bodies like to be physically active!
