Medicine has proved that weight gain is primarily caused by excess food consumption and the number of cases where weight is gained by a hormonal imbalance or thyroid malfunction is relatively low. Perhaps by learning a little more about food that helps you lose weight t will help with your weight problem.

Some foods help control weight whilst others actively promote the burning of excess body fat. There are several categories of weight loss food you should have a look at, and here are a few of them to give you an idea about how diverse a diet can be.

Some of these foods are commonly used and include the likes of pasta dishes, meals that contain Brussels, cabbage and peas. Tomato sauce is actually better for you than tomatoes but if you add this to a portion of spaghetti and perhaps mix it with some veal which is also low in fat you have a highly nutritious low fat, great tasting meal. White fish has long been known to be healthy but it is also good for weight maintenance as well especially if you have this with vegetables that have been steamed and even mash potatoes have a low calorie count. You can even eat fresh sweet cheese providing it is low fat but yogurt; porridge and even dark rice are healthy weight loss oods.

Apart form vegetables most fruits are good for the metabolism, being full of antioxidants but special mention should be made of oranges, lemons, grapefruits and especially apples. Fruits like kiwi, strawberries and water melons are also good if you are pursuing a weight loss ood program. Grapes can also be good but bananas and figs actually contain high amounts of calories although bananas are an excellent fuel source when you are carrying out physical activity. Of course vegetables are mainly made up of water but also contain amounts of healthy nutrients and minerals plus large quantities can be eaten without weight gain so the likes of tomatoes, cucumber, celery, lettuce are all good weight loss oods.

It should be worth mentioning that cakes, take-aways, sandwiches and fast food are way off regular weight loss food; on the contrary these may very well be the factors for which you’re having weight or health problems. Most foods are now available in ‘health option’ versions which are low in fat content and whilst this is going to be better for you it does not mean these are truly healthy foods. It would be unfair to exclude everything that is nice from your weight loss diet but you should check the ingredients labels carefully on these products before you start using them.

This will require a regular and routine exercise period every day of about fifteen minutes, preferably a cardiovascular program and a diet that is flexible enough to incorporate personal tastes.

Do not worry if your rapid weight loss plan is not producing results as quickly as you would like; everyone has a different metabolism and some will see results faster than others; this is perfectly natural so do not become despondent. We all need energy to carry out daily tasks, and more if we perform physical activities, so do not stop eating carbohydrates otherwise you will find yourself tired all the time. If you follow this plan, you will be losing a little over a pound a day, but once you stop this routine of only 1000 to 1500 calories a day you are very likely to go right back to your normal size.

A Combination of Foods to Help Weight Loss

Although there are a small number of conditions that create a weight problem for a small percentage of individuals, food is still the number one reason why people become overweight. However, there are foods that help with weight loss and controlling weight generally if you are prepared to take responsibility for your weight. We are now discovering many types of food that not only help to maintain health but can also be sued to burn excess calories. In fact there are a number of categories of food that can help maintain weight and allow you to actually enjoy your diet.

Among the weight loss food types that make the basis of regular dishes we could mention Brussels, cabbage, boiled beans, peas, lentils and pasta. You can enjoy the delicious spaghetti with tomato sauce and low-fat veal without having to count the calories in it.

Unless you intend to carry out lots of stamina building exercise, you may want to steer clear of fruits with high calorie content such as bananas and figs but the likes of grapes are OK. Other vegetables that are good weight loss foods include tomatoes, celery, cucumber and lettuce as they all contain minerals and nutrients but also a high water content as well.

Foods with high a sugar content (amongst others) like chocolate, cakes and fast foods are not good for healthy weight loss, in fact probably the complete opposite; unhealthy weight gain. However, there is some great low-fat source of energy you can take advantage of in special products such as low fat ice-cream and cookies, dark chocolate, low-fat mayonnaise and the list could go on. Low-fat foods are not necessarily a bad thing but that is not the end of the subject so before you include low-fat versions of all your favorite foods, check the labels carefully as you may find you will not lose weight at all.
