Is image everything in today’s society? Image represents money and power. Image represents status and privilege. Image represents youth and beauty. It can represent many things but for the Mom who is looking to lose weight fter giving birth, striving to fit into a Hollywood image can keep her down in the dumps with a good dose of self-loathing. Losing pregnancy weight is about going beyond the “image” and embracing wellness.

Losing the baby fat is a good thing, but can you keep it off for good? Did losing the weight alleviate any of your financial or emotional stresses? Have you relinquished your bad eating habits? Are your days less chaotic now that your skinny? These are some of the “baggage” that are ignored when Moms opt for the quick-fix diets and over the counter diet pills that promise you short-lived results at a cost to your health and well-being. This is why you need to find a holistic way to stay healthy and keep the weight off for good.

1. Lifestyle program is a Smart Choice.

Half the battle in losing pregnancy weight is getting your psyche in a good place. The mind is a powerful force to reckon with and can be a great ally in your battle to trim your tummy. This is why losing weight the easy way with diet pills or trendy diets can seem like taking one step forward and three steps backwards. These quick-fix remedies omit the psychological, behavioral and lifestyle influences of weight management and hence weight loss is only temporary. You need to find a lifestyle program that incorporates these factors that are needed to attain lifelong health and wellness.

2. Focus on the exercises that burn the most Fat.

You can lose the pregnancy weight fast if you include resistance training into your workout. Resistance training is a form of strength training that increases muscle density or strength. It does not increase the size of the muscle. You can re-gain your lost muscle mass when you train using a form of resistance such as free weights or your own body weight to work your muscles to become toned.

Studies show that resistance training done at maximum effort and in short intervals will increase your resting metabolism and burn more fat for the long term compared to a cardio workout. Therefore, burning the baby fat does not require you to waste huge chunks of time at the gym doing cardio. You can do it all in a few minutes at home.

3. Fuel your body with foods high in fiber and high in protein.

There is no silver bullet when it comes to the perfect diet to lose your tummy. However, there are foods that you can incorporate into your daily diet that will be beneficial for your body. An integral part of getting lean and fit is eating right. There are foods that can help you minimize fat storage and maximize the energy used to digest them. These are called fat burning foods.

Fat burning foods are foods that are high in fiber and lean protein. Keep in mind that you should be aware of how these foods are processed with regards to fat, sugar and salt content. Less is good in as a general rule. You are what you eat, so be a smart consumer and strive to eat more natural foods.

4. Include the Family.

Why reap the benefits of losing the pregnancy weight on your own? You can share the benefits of eating right and regular exercise with your family. You are the heart of the family and as such you can be the family instigator to get them on the health wagon. Plan more family activities that include more physical activity. Gradually introduce new healthy recipes and encourage healthy snacks and choices for your family. With the family on board making the transition to a healthy lifestyle will flow more smoothly and seem more natural.

Trying to strive to live a healthy lifestyle holistically with a lifestyle program is the better choice for Moms who want to lose weight or the long term. Losing pregnancy weight is more than just being able to fit into your skinny jeans. Making a lifestyle change that will make you look, feel and be the fabulous Mom that you are, for the long term.
